Counselling

Sometimes, the ways we’ve learned to cope with life’s challenges begins to feel less effective. This often happens when we’re faced with unexpected events or painful experiences—whether in our relationships, at work, through bereavement, illness, or within ourselves. When this happens, it can feel unsettling, confusing and disorienting. Thoughts and emotions may become tangled, spiral, feel overwhelming, and hard to make sense of, leaving us feeling stuck or limited in how we live.

A compassionate, confidential space in counselling, where you can begin to untangle these experiences can be helpful. As well as having a trained ear, together, as you explore what’s happening for you now, you may consider how past patterns of coping—once helpful—might no longer be serving you. This process can help understanding, and make room for new ways forward.

In those times when life can feel overwhelming,  whether you are facing anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or seeking personal growth, you don't have to navigate it alone. I'm Karen Hanson, a BACP- accredited counsellor with years of experience in supporting adults in moving through life's challenges.

I offer a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings, to develop greater self-awareness and to make your next steps. Together we'll work at your pace to help you to gain a fuller and deeper understanding of and improved relationship with yourself, your experience and others. This can support you in walking through a place of distress to live the life that you have more fully.

"We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit."
